Hispanics may be the key to future US economic growth

One of our greatest challenges as leaders is to anticipate the future. But we have no crystal ball. We must try and make sense of the information available and plot the best course forward today. Below is some concise data about growth rates of the Latino workforce. Be mindful of how it could affect your company.

In data captured over the previous decade, Hispanics accounted for 82% of the growth in U.S. labor-force participation between 2010 and 2017 despite accounting for less than 20% of the country’s overall population. So the Hispanic labor-force growth participation rate is 4X that of the rest of the country.

The Hispanic population in the U.S. is also growing more quickly compared to the total U.S. population. Population growth among Hispanics was steady around 2% between 2011 and 2018. For the rest of the population, however, it has been below 0.5% in that time. So Hispanic population growth is 4X that of the rest of the U.S.

4X.
